Good morning James Bay United Church,

I guess the groundhog really meant it a few weeks ago on that bright sun shiny day!  I trust you are safe and have all you need to weather these days.  If anyone is experiencing particular hardship due to the weather (eg.  day three with no food in the house) please be in touch.  There may well be a way for us to be of assistance to each other while we wait for a safe passage on sidewalks and roads.

Due to the weather, this evening’s screening of The Secret Path has has been postponed.  Already a new date, Thursday, March 2 has been confirmed with Nicole Bresser who will be with us to facilitate a follow-up conversation.  If you know of others who were planning to come this evening, your help in spreading the word is appreciated.

Members of the Board met this week in preparation for our Annual Meeting which this year will happen in two parts.   Part one will take place on Sunday February 26th.  In fact we’ve decided to weave our worship and work together, incorporating our reflection on the year past and priorities for this year into our morning service.   Part two will take place in a meeting following the service on Sunday March 19, when we will be attending to our budget for 2017.  It’s not that we wouldn’t want to bring money matters into our worship on the first round, but rather a few extra weeks allows for our accountant to complete her part of the work in a way that is more satisfying all around.

A reminder of the service tomorrow, in celebration of the life of Percy Butler who died last week.  2pm at the Wellesley, in the Magnolia Room, 2800 Blanshard St.  Percy’s son Bruce wonders if there would be someone from the congregation who would care to share a Percy story.  Please be in touch if this calls to you.  kdickey@shaw.ca or 250 592 5931.
And finally, this Sunday at the reception following our service, we'll continue our celebration of the life of Clara Wieland.  You are invited to bring a plate of squares or something sweet to share.  Please deliver that to the hall downstairs prior to 10:15 where folks setting up for the reception will be ready to receive.

Grace and Peace,
Karen
