Opening Prayer

O Soul within all souls
who have ever been
and ever will be,
grant me the grace of the dawn’s glory
grant me the strength of the sun’s rays

grant me the passion you bear for creation
and all who inhabit it
now and ever into the future,
that I may be well in my own soul
and a part of the world’s healing this day
that I may be well in my own soul
and part of the world’s healing
this and every day.   Amen

Closing Prayer

For your Spirit woven into the fabric of creation
for the eternal overlapping with time
and the life of earth interlaced with heaven’s vitality
I give you thanks, O God.

For your untamed creativity
your boundless mystery
and your passionate yearnings
planted deep in the soul of every human being —
past, present and future —
I give you thanks.

Grant me the grace to reclaim these depths
to uncover this treasure
to liberate these longings
for the sake of all present and future generations
and in being set free in my own spirit
to act for the well-being of the world.  Amen

Spiritual Practice

This week’s practice is inspired by “Dear Tomorrow” an on-line platform that invites people to share their hopes and love for someone dear to them, as they imagine this person in the future, knowing life on our planet is seriously threatened.

Here’s their invitation:

“Think of a person important in your life -- your child, a friend, a family member or your future self. Imagine it is 2050 and they receive a message from you written today. Your message shares your thoughts about climate change and your promise to take action to ensure they have a safe and healthy world.”

* Each day visit the “Dear Tomorrow” site: https://www.deartomorrow.org/

and immerse yourself in some of the letters.

* Prayerfully begin to formulate and write your own “Dear Tomorrow” letter.

(You can even make a donation to the organization through their website)
