We have a unique opportunity that awaits us this coming week. Antoine Beuger, a dear friend and mentor of Daniel Brandes, arrives tomorrow from his home in Germany to be part of a special concert series next week. Informing his life and work as a composer are the writings of St John of the Cross (known for his reflections on the dark night of the soul).
Antoine has agreed to spend Wednesday morning (March 21st) with us, offering a talk entitled "into the heart of the poem—into the poem of the heart -- on the image of the heart in the poetry and spirituality of St John of the Cross." Please send me a note by Sunday if you plan to attend. I'll confirm our gathering place. No charge ... though you may wish to offer a donation of your choosing.
