  force of jazz.\nSome time ago Louise requested that we hold a special spo
 t for anyone wishing to learn a few tips on the very basics of the joyous 
 art of social dancing.\nOver the past few months\, we have been graced by 
 the presence of our friends Alison and Andrew\, two of the city’s belove
 d swing dancers and teachers. Although they are both unavailable to teach 
 this week\, we’ve invited a couple of other friends\, Dave and Catie fro
 m the Swing Dance Association of Victoria\, to give us a few pointers!\nEv
 eryone welcome! Beginners absolutely welcome! No experience required. No p
 artner required. :-)\nAbout the Great American Songbook Trio\nCelebrating 
 the limitless possibilities of melody\, harmony\, rhythm &amp\; text\, the
  trio brings to life some of the classic compositions of the Great America
 n Songbook with heart\, soul\, and the in-the-moment essence that has earn
 ed them an international reputation.\nMs. Rose draws on her incredible per
 sonal musical history — including studies under the great Oscar Peterson
 \, Duke Ellington\, and Todd Duncan (Porgy)\, and performances with Ray Ch
 arles\, Ray Brown\, Ella Fitzgerald\, and many more — to share the pract
 ice of authentic music-making\, personal expression\, and human communicat
 ion that brings this art form to life.\nBassist Joey Smith has toured the 
 world with the Glenn Miller Orchestra\, the Marc Atkinson Trio\, the Great
  American Songbook Trio\, and more! A first-call bassist on the West Coast
  for more than 20 years and an in-demand guitarist\, arranger\, and educat
 or\, Joey Smith is at the top of his craft.\nDrummer/vocalist Kelby MacNay
 r has shared the stage with jazz luminaries Terrell Stafford\, John Clayto
 n\, Larry Fuller\, and more! Equally at home in elegant trio settings and 
 raucous big bands\, MacNayr makes his focus the spirit of the music. His o
 wn Kelby MacNayr Quintet features a gorgeous blend of jazz and world-music
  influences to create a sound truly his own\, featuring the legendary line
 -up of saxophonist Phil Dwyer\, trumpeter Dan Lapp\, pianist Miles Black\,
  and bassist Tom Wakeling.
