 esson!\nFeaturing the legendary pianist and vocalist Ms. Louise Rose\, bas
 sist Joey Smith\, and drummer/vocalist Kelby MacNayr\, the Great American 
 Songbook Trio is a true tour de force of jazz.\nAs Louise announced at las
 t month's concert\, she requested that we reserve a special spot for anyon
 e wishing to learn a few of the basics of the joyous art of social swing d
 ancing.\nOver the past few months\, we have been graced by the presence of
  our friends Alison and Andrew\, two of Victoria's beloved swing dancers a
 nd teachers. Although they are both unavailable to teach this week\, we're
  delighted to welcome another wonderful pair of instructors — Cave and C
 atie from the Swing Dance Association of Victoria — who will give us a f
 ew pointers!\nDance lesson begins at 1:30 pm\nLive music begins at 2 pm\nE
 veryone is welcome! Beginners are especially welcome. No experience requir
 ed :-)\nAdmission by donation (suggested donation: $20). Everyone is welco
 me\, regardless of ability to donate.\n\nThe Great American Songbook Trio\
 nCelebrating the limitless possibilities of melody\, harmony\, rhythm\, an
 d text\, the trio brings to life some of the classic compositions of the G
 reat American Songbook with heart\, soul\, and the in-the-moment essence t
 hat has earned them an international reputation.\nMs. Louise Rose draws on
  her incredible musical journey — including studies with the great Oscar
  Peterson\, Duke Ellington\, and Todd Duncan (Porgy)\, as well as performa
 nces with Ray Charles\, Ray Brown\, Ella Fitzgerald\, and many more — to
  share the practice of authentic music-making\, personal expression\, and 
 human communication that brings this art form to life.\nBassist Joey Smith
  has toured the world with the Glenn Miller Orchestra\, the Marc Atkinson 
 Trio\, the Great American Songbook Trio\, and many more. A first-call bass
 ist on the West Coast for more than 20 years\, and an in-demand guitarist\
 , arranger\, and educator\, Joey Smith is at the top of his craft.\nDrumme
 r/vocalist Kelby MacNayr has shared the stage with jazz luminaries Terrell
  Stafford\, John Clayton\, Larry Fuller\, and many more. Equally at home i
 n elegant trio settings and raucous big bands\, MacNayr focuses on the spi
 rit of the music. His own Kelby MacNayr Quintet features a gorgeous blend 
 of jazz and world music influences\, creating a sound truly his own. The g
 roup includes the legendary lineup of saxophonist Phil Dwyer\, trumpeter D
 an Lapp\, pianist Miles Black\, and bassist Tom Wakeling.
