  of some of the most storied and iconic women in jazz in our city.\nDate:

  all are welcome)\n\nPianist and vocalist Toni Blodgett has been a mainsta
 y of the West Coast traditional jazz scene for over 40 years. The renowned
  leader of the international touring group Canus and a collaborator with m
 any great jazz artists\, Toni Blodgett keeps the tradition of traditional 
 jazz alive!\nRenowned contemporary jazz saxophonist Monik Nordine has made
  a name for herself across the country\, playing bebop and swinging styles
  of contemporary jazz at the highest levels. A composer\, band leader\, an
 d educator\, Monik spends time between Victoria\, Salt Spring Island\, and
  Europe. At this special concert she travels back in time from her typical
  contemporary sounds to honour the legacy of the great New Orleans soprano
  saxophonist Sidney Bechet.\n“Diamond Tooth” Molly is a legendary figu
 re in the traditional jazz percussion world from Victoria to Dawson City. 
 Having spent much of her career back and forth between the South and the N
 orth of western Canada\, Molly has lent her washboard and traditional jazz
  percussion talents to numerous groups\, including the Dixieland Express.\
 nClassically trained drummer Lauri Lyster has been swinging the band from 
 the drum set for many years across Canada and beyond. Working with the gre
 at Simon Stribling and his Hoppin’ Mad Orchestra\, Toni Blodgett’s Can
 us traditional jazz band\, and more\, Lauri brings a unique sound to the b
 andstand.\nMulti-instrumentalist Anita Bonkowski has been busy as a drumme
 r\, bass player\, arranger\, and educator for over 30 years right here in 
 Victoria. She has worked with some of the finest names in the business\, f
 rom Ian McDougall to Joey Smith and many more\, performing in blues\, jazz
 \, and popular music. In this concert she brings the soulful sound of upri
 ght bass to traditional New Orleans jazz.\n\nTuesday Night Jazz at the Chu
 rch admission by donation (suggested $20)\n\nrelax in the cosy and acousti
 cally excellent sanctuary\nof James Bay United Church for some very specia
