Sunday WorshipNational Indigenous Day of Prayer - Sunday, June 19, 10:15am a gesture toward reconciliation ... We have chosen this Sunday, closest to National Indigenous Day of Prayer, to not only gather up our personal and our collective offerings to the Reconciliation Contribution Fund, but also to open up our awareness and our hearts to the costs of white privilege as we venture this gesture toward reconciliation. There may be something additionally powerful about being together in person, so I encourage you if that is a possibility for you. If you are joining the service online, having a piece of paper and pen alongside will allow for full participation. As for financial contributions, cheques should be made out to James Bay United Church, noting Reconciliation Fund in the memo line. If you are sending a contribution by mail, it would be great to receive it by the end of next week. For more infomation visit:

Getting Ready For Pride
In preparation for the Pride Parade next Sunday (June 26) there will be a short meeting after the service this Sunday to talk details. Already it is shaping up to be a colourful, celebratory event as we take our place amidst other United Church congregations. It will be wonderful to have your participation whether you plan to walk in the parade or celebrate from the sidelines. Thanks to Colleen Adair for getting us organized. small gifts
Just a new pair of workboots. But for a recently housed person completing training and orientation for new job as a construction labourer, the boots represent pride, accomplishment and hope for the future. The James Bay Social Justice Team has been active on many fronts these past months and in solidarity with other partner organizations we are changing lives with this kind small but significant support. … thankful for our partners and for your contributions to the Social Justice Ministry. |
