The Owen Chow Quartet - Tuesday, August 2, 7PM

Rising star Owen Chow has an enviable style, plenty of attitude and virtuosity, as well as a melodic and harmonic sophistication well beyond his years.

In this special concert Owen presents a concert of his own quartet material!

We were thrilled to make space to feature Owen’s playing as a collaborator, and now are extremely excited to have him leading this project!

Featuring pianist Zack Santella, bassist Phil Albert and drummer Miles Fuller.

note from Gordon

I want to say a bit more about this.

As a musician and as a trumpet player (many of you don't know that I was a musician with the Canadian Armed Forces Band in Calgary) I want to tell you how impressed I am with Owen. Oh my goodness, he is only 20 years old. He has style, flourishes, rich empressive low notes and then he takes risks. As a critic I sometimes hear 'wrong notes' in his risky moments at the top of his register. BUT this is how a young musician pushes the boundaries of their abilities and grows and learns and challenges themselves to be better ... best. For myself as a professional musician I never took those risks and my growth suffered for it. Ah to be 65 looking back on 20 ... some of you might know what that feels like too.

I've said my bit ... maybe you will take the time to come out to support, watch, listen and experience growth while it blossoms right in front of you.

See you Tuesday at 7.
