The great pianist Ahmad Jamal passed away on April 16th, 2023 and we would like to honour his music and memory this week.

A musician of incredible poise, elegance, virtuosity and discretion, Ahmad Jamal has inspired generations of musicians and fans alike.

Bringing together three West Coast musicians who have been profoundly influenced and inspired by this bandleader, we tip our hats in honour and celebration of the great Ahmad Jamal Trio. Featuring bassist Scott White, pianist Tony Genge and drummer Kelby MacNayr with music from the famous live album Live at the Pershing and more!

Just squeezing it in here, but did you know that April 30th is International Jazz Day??

"In November 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe. International Jazz Day is chaired and led by UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay and legendary jazz pianist and composer Herbie Hancock, who serves as a UNESCO Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogue and Chairman of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz. The Institute is the nonprofit charged with planning, promoting and producing this annual celebration."
