Tuesday Night Jazz at the Church welcomesrenowned Connor Stewart - August 20, 7pm The Island-raised multi-instrumentalist has made a name for himself over the last 15 years performing with the greats of Traditional New Orleans Jazz on the bandstands of the French Quarter. The Vancouver Island native headed south to the Big Easy at the young age of 17 and began working with a mix of local and international musicians, as well as a host of the old guard of traditional New Orleans jazz greats. Fast forward a decade or so, and Connor has become one of the most in-demand bandleaders and freelance musicians in the city, with a number of albums as a leader and many more as a sideman. Join us for some infectious, joyful music celebrating the New Orleans tradition! Celebrate the long-heralded traditional jazz clarinet in the hands of one of its youngest and most gifted proponents! Joined by pianist Dr. Tony Genge, bassist Brock Meades, and drummer Kelby MacNayr, with Connor Stewart at the helm, this promises to be a highlight of the season!
