We continue in Creation Time, exploring mysticism vis-a-vis the four elements. This Sunday we consider earth and so we read a few snippets from different parts of the Bible. God unites with us through earth – whether in the garden, through mountaintop experiences, walking barefoot, or simply remembering that all of the complexity of our bodies, minds, and beings eventually ends up as broken down organic matter in the soil.

Our Committee continues to work diligently with MP Will Greaves to help expedite the refugee family’s case, and try to get them to Canada and safety. Unfortunately, their situation in Islamabad grows more precarious, with denial of education and threats to their housing.

Thank you for attending our Classical Concert Series at James Bay United. Our planning for the next performance is in the works. We previously announced that the date would be Friday, September 19th, to coincide with the Fall Equinox. We are not quite ready for that date.

Sunday mornings in James Bay United’s Lower Hall: 10:30–11:30 am

Musicians led by Jennifer Turner will fill this special place in Irving Park with magical sounds, and lyrics will be provided to help you join in. We'll be singing Taize songs. Come to this very special space in the heart of James Bay (bring a lawn chair!) and enjoy a beautiful fall evening before winter closes in.

First session: Friday, Sept 26, 7:00–9:00 pm (Upstairs Reception).

Bring a snack to share, and we’ll have hot drinks. All are welcome!

Goldstream Protectors request your help!

The salmon, the integrity of the Goldstream ecosystem, the rights of the WSÁNEC nations – it’s all being threatened by a highway construction proposal within the park. 

Join the Goldtream Protectors for a Family Friendly Art Day on September 27, 2:30–4:00 pm in our Lower Hall to make salmon puppets in preparation for the rally and protest on the legislature front lawn (October 22, 12:00–1:00 pm).

As we open ourselves to our oneness with all of Creation, a beautiful poem to meditate on by Steve Garnaas-Holmes:

Find a gentle piece of earth.
Sit and be present. Sit still long. 
Let the wind hold you, breathe you in and out.
