Sunday Worship ServiceNovember 1, 10:30–11:30 am This Sunday we begin a four-week series looking at the Prayer Jesus prayed (aka The Lord's Prayer). We start by considering the nature of God and the relationship between God and us. Specifically we consider the notion of belonging: yes, we belong to God, but what about God belonging to us? What are the implications of the possessive pronoun, "our"? And, while we're at it, what's up with the "Father" part that we in the United Church seldom say these days? Please note that our Sunday Service begins at 10:30. You are warmly invited to gather with us from 10:15 am, in our Sanctuary or online, for a time of musical reflection. Capital Campaign Fall 2026/Winter 2027Building for the Future James Bay United Church, planted from the seeds of a Methodist Sunday School, has been a spiritual home for people in the neighbourhood and beyond for 135 years. This Fall, James Bay United is asking you to invest in the future of this legacy by contributing to a capital plan that assures the long-term viability of the buildings and equipment we rely on daily to deliver programs and services – an investment in the spiritual heart of your community. This is just the first message in a capital campaign that will last well into 2027. Be excited, be aware, share the story as it rolls out. Because, we're building for the future. Love Cooking? Our Community Lunch Needs You!
Our wonderful Community Lunch team is growing! We've recently welcomed a new volunteer driver, along with some new kitchen helpers and Thursday volunteers. But we're still looking for one very special person. We're looking for a Cook Team volunteer who can help on BOTH Wednesdays and Thursdays and occasionally take the lead in preparing meals for our Community Lunch guests. This could be a great opportunity for someone who loves cooking, enjoys a challenge, and has some kitchen experience — whether you'd like to develop your skills or already feel confident in the kitchen. Volunteer hours: Wednesdays 12–2:30 pm & Thursdays 11:30 am–2:30 pm. Please contact Joanne Keelan at keejoan@yahoo.ca, or speak with her at a Sunday service. For more infomation visit:
