Maude Fortier Quartet/Muneeb Hermans QuartetTuesday, June 9, 7:00–8:30 pm Every once in a while, Tuesday Night Jazz has the opportunity to present a truly exceptional double bill — and this evening is no exception. We originally had the chance to showcase the extraordinary musicianship, talent, and spirit of trumpeter Muneeb Hermans from South Africa. Then, when Hermann's Jazz Club temporarily closed for renovations, an outstanding quartet of touring musicians found themselves in need of a venue. We seized the opportunity to bring these remarkable artists together, creating a unique evening that bridges age, geography, nationality, and musical heritage. Saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Maude Fortier brings her unique musical voice to the stage with a band of rising stars from Montreal. Renowned trumpeter Muneeb Hermans draws inspiration from both American jazz and his native South African musical traditions. Joining Muneeb for this special presentation are renowned Montreal bassist Adrian Vedady, pianist Kate Wyatt, and drummer Kelby MacNayr.
