Our Arts Ministry, which includes Tuesday Night Jazz at the Church and other great programs, events and activities is looking for some keen talented volunteers to be welcoming hosts, emcees, money counters, chair wranglers, and all-round good ambassadors for James Bay United Church.

Gordon and Kelby and Natalia will be hosting an orientation session for about 90 minutes where you will get to hear about the opportunities, receive some basic training, hang out with like-minded community members and share some refreshments.

No long term commitments are necessary at this stage. Just a willingness to find out what volunteering for our Arts Ministry looks like and whether it is a good fit for you.

Sunday Jazz Matinée at James Bay United Church presents the Great American Songbook Trio in Song of Fall and Changing Seasons

Featuring legendary pianist and vocalist Ms. Louise Rose, bassist Joey Smith, and drummer/vocalist Kelby MacNayr, the Great American Songbook Trio is a tour de force of jazz.

For this special concert, the trio will explore the theme of fall and changing seasons — and take requests! Also, at Louise’s request, we’re making space for anyone wishing to learn a few basics of the joyous art of social dancing.

Join renowned dance teachers Andrew & Tina at 1:30 pm for a special introductory lesson in the art of African American vernacular dance.

No experience or partner required.

Admission by donation ($20 suggested, but all are welcome).

Learn how Healing Pathway can teach you to:
- Center and ground yourself through meditation and grounding exercises;
- Work with your own energy to create harmony in your body and mind;
- Offer healing sessions to friends and family or offer to members of our community with our dedicated group of healing pathway practitioners.

Join us for the return of Dinner + Movie Night! Bring your favourite dish to share at our potluck and help make it a festive evening of food, friendship, and film.

We’ll be watching Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese’s gripping drama starring Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio. Based on a true story, the film follows the Osage Nation in Oklahoma, whose land yields immense oil wealth — and the sinister efforts of local white men to seize it through deception and murder. The cast also includes notable Canadian actress Tantoo Cardinal.
