This Sunday is our third Sunday of Creation Time and it's the Sunday closest to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, or Orange Shirt Day. We consider water and baptism, and the 'purification' ritual necessary for flourishing. When we wash away those things for which we haven't forgiven ourselves, for example, then we are able to participate in thriving relationships: we are able to love.

You’ll also get a chance to hear our incredible Sunday Worship Choir — for the first time this season!

Please note that our Sunday Service begins at 10:30. You are warmly invited to gather with us from 10:15 am, in our Sanctuary or online, for a time of musical reflection.

Our Open House Week is building to a grand finale — a whole weekend filled with music from around the world, live performances, and plenty of swing dancing!

On Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Moderator Rev. Kimberly Heath shares a personal reflection on participating in the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation ceremony on Parliament Hill.

In this message, Moderator Heath honours the children who never came home, recognizes the courage and resilience of survivors, and acknowledges the ongoing impacts of residential schools and intergenerational trauma. She also reaffirms the church's commitment to walking the path of truth, justice, healing, and reconciliation with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

As we wear orange, may we remember, learn, and work together toward renewed relationships and lasting reconciliation.

On the evening of October 1 an in-person panel and exhibition launch with a different group of speakers will take place from 5:00–7:00 pm at the Greater Victoria Public Library Central Branch, 735 Broughton St.

This exhibition features photographs by older adults in British Columbia exploring how climate change impacts their mental health. The purpose of this exhibition is to amplify public dialogue about climate change and aging through arts-based engagement.

Join us on Wednesdays from 5:00–7:00 pm in the downstairs hall, starting October 7, for Soup and Conversation.

We’ll begin by sharing soup and bread, provided by volunteers each week. After tidying up together, we’ll explore the previous Sunday’s lectionary readings — a chance to dig a little deeper into the texts, ask questions, and get to know one another.

We’ll gather weekly until spring, with a short break over Christmas. Come with your questions, your curiosity, and an appetite for good company!
