Celebrate James Bay! - August 28, 10AM to 2PM

please volunteer to help out

Celebrate James Bay! (our big neighbourhood party) is coming up on Sunday August 28 and we need the support of the congregation to help pull it off. First of all, please plan to attend (10am to 2pm) and please take a moment to tell the organizing committee how you can help out.

There are jobs both big and small and in particular, we need people who know how to handle food to help in the hotdog tent.

Please click this link to volunteer.

Sunday Worship

Sunday, August 7, 10:15AM

Sunday we tune into a final reflection from Rachel’s book with that title, allowing it to inform the theme and the shape of our service, inviting us to wonder and wrestle perhaps, as she has wondered and wrestled, with matters of life and faith.

The invitation is to experience for ourselves what it is to welcome and respond to Love’s lavish way with the whole creation. We are challenged to love our enemies in ways and with outcomes me might never have imagined possible.

Tuesday Night Jazz Presents

The David Restivo Trio - Tuesday, August 9, 7PM

Iconic Canadian jazz pianist David Restivo has been among the crème de la crème of Canadian jazz pianists for the last 20 years. Formerly based in Toronto Restivo was the first call for international touring artists as well as local jazz luminaries including Canada‘s boss brass and a faculty position at the Banff Centre's prestigious jazz program as well as Saint Francis Xavier in Antigonish Nova Scotia.

Restivo is now the piano professor in Nelson British Columbia and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to feature David Restivo in a trio concert plus special guests!

Admission by donation ($20 suggested donation / sliding scale)

thank you from Anna and Alex

thank you from Anna and Alex

Anna was so happy to perform to a warm responsive audience on Thursday night. Many thanks to everyone involved. Alex and Anna put on a great performance confirming what we already know; the sanctuary at James Bay United is beautifully suited to our expanding Arts Ministry.

Community BBQ

Community BBQ

August 20th

Do you know of someone who might enjoy this opportunity?

On Saturday (late afternoon) August 20th on the Patio and Lower Hall some friends are planning a wonderful free bbq for folks in the neighbourhood who might be experiencing social isolation and food insecurity at this time of rising prices and post pandemic blues.

Phil and his friends are putting on the whole show and members of the congregation are invited and also encouraged to think of friends who could use this kind of boost in their week.

Think about … and this week will ask you to sign up if you are coming.
