W̱SÁNEĆ Elder ZȺWIZUT Carl Olsen will be joining us for the Sunday service on September 17th to speak about the need for habitat preservation at SELE₭TEL Goldstream River and Goldstream Park. The Ministry of Transportation is proposing a highway expansion that will greatly threaten the river, the salmon and the fishing rights of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. All are welcome to join us for this important discussion.

If you were part of the pre-service meditative walk guided by Hilde last Sunday, you’ll know something of what a profound experience these walks can be as we immerse ourselves in the 'Season of Creation'.  

This Sunday’s sojourn will take us across to Irving Park where we will be guided by Kam McKim to simply revel in the experience of sitting under a tree … and then as the Spirit moves, to walk the labyrinth. Meet on the front church patio ready to stroll at 8:30am.

As we continue our journey through this 'Season of Creation', we open ourselves to both the fragility and the glory of this wondrous natural world … to our deep connection with all life forms … to our sacred call to care for all creation.

Joining us on our journey this Sunday will be W̱SÁNEĆ Elder ZȺWIZUT Carl Olsen who will speak to us about the need for habitat preservation at SELE₭TEL Goldstream River and Goldstream Park in light of the Ministry of Transportation’s proposal for a highway expansion that will greatly threaten the river, the salmon and the fishing rights of the W̱SÁNEĆ people. We welcome his insights, his wisdom and his gracious presence among us.

What you need to know:

• All are welcome, whatever your medium of expression – painting, embroidery, drawing, collage, colouring, poetry……

There are many wonderful hymns celebrating creation in our books that we don’t get to sing very often.

On Sunday October 1st, we will be doing a Hymn Sing during the pre-service time (10:15am – 10:30am). Everyone is invited to submit their favourite Creation themed hymns to Jennifer Turner by Sunday September 24th. You can tell her in-person on a Sunday morning or by email to j.turner@queensu.ca.

Saturday, September 23rd Movie Night & Potluck Dinner returns with the 2012 movie Argo.

Healing Pathway practitioners will be offering “Soaking Prayer” following the service on Sunday, September 24th.  If you are feeling the need for care – perhaps because of stress or concerns that you are carrying, or pain or grief – we encourage you to receive. We invite anyone who would like to come and sit in a chair at the back section of the sanctuary for a few minutes to receive healing energy through the Soaking Prayer technique. One practitioner will place their hands gently on your shoulders as you are seated.

We welcome this opportunity to offer our Healing Pathway Ministry to the congregation.

The choir will sing on Sunday October 8th for Thanksgiving Sunday and everybody is welcome to join regardless of singing and music reading ability!

Music will be available as of September 17th and practice files will be sent out before the first rehearsal. Rehearsals will take place on Sunday September 24th and Sunday October 1st in the Sanctuary following coffee time (approximately 12noon – 12:50pm). This workshop is an opportunity to deepen the experience of healing and connecting to God's healing power through the heart centre. Focus will be on increasing the Practitioner’s self awareness through the exploration of spiritual practices and self care. New healing sequences and assessment procedures are introduced and practised, as well as effective use of dialogue to deepen the healing process.
