Please note that the Sunday Service begins at 10:30. You are warmly invited to gather from 10:15 for a time of musical reflection.
On the day of the resurrection, Jesus (after having died and risen) joins his friends as they’re traveling to Emmaus, surely feeling a mix of grief and bewilderment. But they don’t recognize him. They walk together, chatting the whole way, but it’s not until he offers the meal-time ritual that “their eyes are opened” and they realize what’s happening. And, just as quickly as they see him for who he is, he vanishes. Or so goes the story Luke tells this week. It’s a very intriguing, mystical story. It’s very embodied, until it’s not. The embodied presence of God has a way of opening our eyes to the abundance that is all around us. Goodness abounds and it is our task to see it–a task that God’s grace makes easy.

Our worship each Sunday is intended to be a collective experience, a communal practice. We might step into whatever is our sanctuary, each one of us as individuals, and yet as we assemble, from wherever we are, we become a people, drawn together through song and prayer, through word and ritual, and through the Spirit who breathes through it all, through us all. One and the same Spirit uniting us breathing us into life!
