Tuesday Night Jazz at the Church presents Lloyd Arntzen's Blackstick featuring Al Pease and Tommy Vickery!
A Victoria traditional jazz supergroup led by the legendary clarinetist Lloyd Arntzen, featuring Tommy Vickery, the "Grandfather of Jazz in Victoria," the incredible Al Pease on clarinet and tenor saxophone, bassist Ryan Tandy, and drummer David Emery.
Lloyd Arntzen hails from small-town Saskatchewan but speaks the language of New Orleans through the music of Sidney Bechet and Jimmy Dodds. At the age of 98, Lloyd has been playing traditional jazz professionally for over 70 years, leading bands and collaborating with some of the finest artists in Canada and internationally.
Lloyd also had the distinct honour of welcoming the great Louis Armstrong to Vancouver in the '60s and has been a favourite of local traditional jazz fans on the West Coast for decades.
