Children's Chorus joins voices with SingYourJoyBelieve: SingYourJoy in Concert We hope you will find the time to go to hear the James Bay Children's Chorus in Concert who are special guests with SingYourJoy Young Adult Chorus. This Saturday evening (7pm) event at First Met United Church on Quadra is the place to be and we look forward to seeing lots of James Bay regulars out in support of these young people. It will truly do your heart good to go. This note from Karen Dickey: "HOW FANTASTIC IS IT that the James Bay Children’s Chorus is preforming at the Sing Your Joy concert. I think that is so worth highlighting ... this choir that got its start by JBUC opening the doors to assist in making this opportunity for kids possible, and now here they are having a chance to see “big kids” in a big setting doing something amazing, AND they get to be part of it with a super appreciative audience. A nudge to come and be part of the appreciative audience would be so appropriate. And for anyone (all those people) who don’t know the gist of the SingYourJoy choir it’s such a good news piece about what is happening in our city for and with and by young people. (need I go on!). (tickets available online and at the door) For more infomation visit: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/singyourjoy-in-concert-believe-tickets-57798828853

Lent Weekly Meditations
Coming to a place of rest eludes us Are you participating in the weekly meditation practices for Lent? If you are like me, caught up in the business of a seven-day-a-week schedule, knowing that the meditation practices are there provides some solace. Knowing that as a spiritual community we come together at various points in our week to do an activity or ministry - Thrift - Movie - Chanting - Jazz - Tuesday Morning Coffee - Choir -- the list grows -- but at the heart, we practice a faith-filled walk together. We read the same words we follow a rhythm of breathing and reflection and wondering as one body. All five weeks of meditations are avialable for you online For more infomation visit:

Going to the Movies for Lentspoiler alert: this could change your life - Wednesday, April 10, 2019 The path to healing and liberation often comes through being invited to take another look -- at ourselves, each other, at the conclusions we’ve come to, the lines we’ve drawn, the “truths” we cling to. This movie series will be the catalyst for us to take another look, to open to our common wisdom, to make sense of our everyday hurts, our suffering and our alienation. US & THEM the moviean important follow up time So often we have significant experiences, and then we “move on” into the rest of the week, the rest of our lives, and we drop the thing that was beginning to happen in us ... we ignore ourselves and miss the opportunity to attend to whatever was transpiring through that encounter.
Imagining there is a swirl of inner responses to the experience of seeing the movie, Us & Them, we invite you to gather with others who have been moved in their own way. (If you haven't had a chance to see it, please contact Vanya or Gordon to borrow a copy for your own viewing at home.)
So we have designed a 4 hour time on Saturday April 27 to give us the opportunity to listen to what’s bubbling up in ourselves, whatever may be needing care, the room to feel, to wonder aloud. It’s about having the chance to tune into our heart’s desire. It’s about making space to honour our own experience and see where that might take us personally and together.
Karen Dickey.
