Pride & A Place at the Table

Pride & A Place at the Table

Showing Up with Love and Strength

This Pride Month, we celebrate the diversity and resilience of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and affirm that there is a place at the table for everyone. Through the United Church’s “A Place at the Table” campaign, we reflect on the sacrament of Communion as a symbol of deep belonging, connection, and sacred welcome. Rooted in justice and radical love, we honour traditions that reflect a community where everyone is embraced and celebrated.

Sunday Worship

July 6 at 10:15 am

This Sunday is Pride Sunday, so our colourful doors will be marching to show that we are opening doors to God's love. The service will be shorter than usual to give folks the chance to get to the parade.

Our reading is Matthew’s account of Jesus raising a girl from the dead, but en route to that miracle, he heals a woman who has been bleeding for a long time. We are all in need of healing of some kind: physical ailments, wounds associated with emotional trauma, fear that embeds itself in the gut and won't go away, division foisted upon us because of our identity. We see that, in God, we can be healed.

Welcome: Rev. Greg Powell
Tech Team: Nathan McDormand, Jamie Waters, Alan Thurston
Scripture Reading: Matthew 9:18-26
Read by: Karen Halliday
Reflection: Rev. Greg Powell

Looking for a Place to Rent

Looking for a Place to Rent

Referred by Joanne Keelan

Grace, a UVic student is looking for a place to rent starting September 1, 2025. She comes highly recommended by Joanne Keelan.

Here’s what she tells about herself:

I am a third-year student at the University of Victoria looking for a furnished or unfurnished place to rent, starting September 1, 2025. (Preferably a place that is cat-friendly). I am working toward my bachelor degree in social work with a specialty in child welfare.

I have a part-time job working in the child care field. I have experience working with both children and seniors. In my free time I like to crochet and scrapbook. I do not party, drink or smoke. I am a very clean and tidy person.

My rental budget is $500–$650. In exchange for lower rent, I can provide a couple hours a week to assist you in chores, dog walking, companionship, etc.

I am open to all types of living arrangements including private room and/or independent basement suite.

I can provide you with a background check, as well as character references. If you are interested, you can contact me by call or text at 250-415-4485.
