James Bay United Church
Gathering - places and ways that engender Hope and Joy
God's Love,

God's Love,

engendering Hope and Joy in everything we are about

July is full of incredible ways for people to gather. To witness Love, to receive Love, indeed to be Love for one another.

Love in our church community, Love in the way we walk and the tasks we are about and Love in the world.

Experience this July in the life of James Bay United Church,
as an opportunity

to breathe in the fragrance of summer,
pollinate like the bee,
emerge and be transformed like the butterfly,
be inspired and inspire others
on the gentle winds of those sacred moments
when we come close to God
and God comes very very close to us.

July Evening Gatherings

July Evening Gatherings

a rich experience of music & spoken word - Sunday, July 7, 2019

Throughout July, we have the opportunity worship in a different way and time. letting the evening summer breezes, the music and the word, open us to God's urging. Plan to attend and take the time to share this opportunity with a friend ... it is as easy as forwarding a link in an email (example below) and inviting them to join you.

Our special July Music and Word series is starting up again on Sunday at James Bay United. I wonder if you would like to join me? The theme is: Gathering in the name of the Bee, the Butterfly and the Breeze. Check it out and let me know.

July Sunday MORNINGS

July Sunday MORNINGS

10:15 am as usual

Rev. Bev Tracey (with Gordon Miller at the piano) will be presiding at our regular Sunday morning services starting at our regular time ... That's not to say there will be nothing irregular about the services under their leadership, but if you like to come on Sunday mornings, you will find it highly recognizable as church.

PRIDE Sunday July 7th

PRIDE Sunday July 7th

The Pride Parade is on Sunday, July 7 and starts at 11:00. (we wont kick off till much later as we are further back in the line) Members of James Bay United will join with other United Churches as soon as we are able and march with our JBUC flags behind the United Church's Love is Love is Love banner.

Gather near the centenial square fountain, we are told, but Pride Sundays can sometimes be a scramble. Just Look for the Love Is Love banner. We are often just behind or near the "Our Place Society" van and marchers.

Watching the parade is also a great way to show your support for the LGBTQ+ community.

the People's Picnic for a Green New Deal!

Saturday, July 6, 2019

The Green New Deal is gaining momentum and we want to get the word out! On Saturday July 6, you are invited to the People's Picnic for a Green New Deal!

What's the Green New Deal you ask?

... things are moving fast in the campaign for a Green New Deal in Canada. Last month, volunteers organized an amazing 150+ town halls, that took place in every single province and territory. So far more than 7,000 people have showed up to share their solutions and ideas for what a Green New Deal could look like in their communities.

may it comfort and inspire

The Gentian weaves her fringes —
The Maple's loom is red —
My departing blossoms
Obviate parade.

A brief, but patient illness —
An hour to prepare,
And one below this morning
Is where the angels are —
It was a short procession,
The Bobolink was there —
An aged Bee addressed us —
And then we knelt in prayer —
We trust that she was willing —
We ask that we may be.
Summer — Sister — Seraph!
Let us go with thee!

In the name of the Bee —
And of the Butterfly —
And of the Breeze —
Amen!
