Experience a reflective and comforting service in the JBUC Sanctuary at 7 pm. Through music, prayer, poems, and communion, Christmas in a Minor Key offers a sacred space to acknowledge sadness and loss, reminding us that God’s light shines into our dark places and that we are never alone.

All ages will enjoy the sounds of the season led by Jennifer Turner (piano and vocals) and Gordon Miller (guitar and vocals). This is a wonderful opportunity for you to join with your neighbours singing best loved Christmas Carols and other seasonal favourites. This event is family-friendly, and we encourage you to bring your children along! 

This Sunday, we mark the Advent theme of Love. In English, we pack a great deal into the single word “love.” Other languages distinguish between love for God and love for friends or family, offering a precision that English sometimes lacks. And really, we are called to practise all forms of love: love of God, love of neighbour, love of enemy, and love of self. That’s a lot! The good news is that we are able to love in all these ways because the source of love is infinite.

The situation for Afghan refugees in Pakistan continues to deteriorate, and the family our congregation is sponsoring now limits leaving their home for safety. Our sponsorship team is advocating for their safe arrival in Canada, and we invite the congregation to hold this family in prayer.
