Faith & Climate in Victoria: From Concern to Collective Action

Faith & Climate in Victoria: From Concern to Collective Action

May 20, 7:00–8:30 pm, Friends’ Meeting House, 1831 Fern Street

How are we, as people of faith and spirituality, called to respond to the climate crisis at this moment?

Across Victoria, many are already taking meaningful action — through greening initiatives, education, advocacy, and protest. At the same time, with expanding fossil fuel projects and the growing urgency of climate change, many of us are asking: what more can we do, and how can we support one another?

We invite you to join a 90-minute gathering to:
– Share what we are currently doing
– Reflect on our sense of calling and responsibility
– Explore ways to collaborate and strengthen our collective impact

This gathering is hosted by Michael Polanyi (Unitarian Universalist Community of Victoria) and Reilly Yeo (Co-Founder of My Climate Plan; Candidate for Ministry, Unitarian Universalist Association).

The event is free; small donations to help cover room costs are welcome. For more information please contact Michael.

Looking Back on Earth Day Sunday

Last Sunday, as we marked Earth Day, we were treated to a beautiful pre-service moment, with Karen Dickey sharing a selection of nature poetry.

If you’d like to spend a little more time with this deeply touching theme, you’re warmly invited to revisit the recording — or, if you prefer a quiet moment of reflection, you can read the poems Karen shared:

"Voices of Earth" by Archibald Lampman
"Watering the Stones" by Mary Oliver
"The Lake Isle of Innisfree" by William Butler Yeats
"Homecoming" by Edith Södergran (a slightly different translation)
"How Surely Gravity's Law" by Rainer Maria Rilke, from The Book of Hours: Love Poems to God
