Sunday Worship ServiceJune 28, 10:30–11:30 am The church board was on retreat near Nanaimo June 5–7 and we can imagine you’d like to know what happened. Well, this Sunday is your chance! The theme for the service will be reporting back from that retreat and we will hear from Board Chair Scott Jantzen and from Rev. Greg during the reflection. The Swing Rhythm Kings w/Tony GengeJune 28, 2:00–3:30 pm The Sunday Jazz Matinee at James Bay United Church presents the Swing Rhythm Kings featuring organist Dr. Tony Genge! The swinging sounds of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Armstrong come to life with this jazz supergroup — an all-star, intergenerational jazz quartet. Drummer and vocalist Kelby MacNayr partners with longtime musical collaborator Dr. Tony Genge and young virtuosos — trumpeter Owen Chow and tenor saxophonist Cole Ashley — for a swinging afternoon of jazz classics. Admission by donation ($20 suggested). Everyone is welcome, regardless of their ability to contribute.
