Coastline Concerts Presents: Guitarists Jesse Marshall & Misha SmirnovJune 13, 7:00–8:30 pm, James Bay United Two of Vancouver Island's finest guitarists Jesse Marshall & Misha Smirnov present an evening of solo & duo performances. Jesse & Misha were recently finalists in the 2026 Northwest Guitar Festival, hosted here in Victoria. Jesse Marshall is a guitarist and composer from Nanaimo, BC. Active as a freelance guitarist since 2013, career highlights include performances at the Nanaimo Jazz Festival, Nanaimo Guitar Showcase, and Island Notes Chamber Music Festival. Misha Smirnov began studying the guitar at age 10 in Russia. He is an active local performer who is known for his warm tone and inspired interpretations. Tickets: $20 at the door or $25 online.

Ms. Rose draws on her incredible personal musical history — including studies with the great Oscar Peterson, Duke Ellington, and Todd Duncan (Porgy) and performances with Ray Charles, Ray Brown, Ella Fitzgerald, and many more — to share the practice of authentic music-making, personal expression, and human communication that brings this art form to life. New Forest Act RoadshowJune 22, 7:00 pm, Broad View United Church 3703 St. Aidan’s St Jennifer Houghton, Campaign Director of the New Forest Act initiative, will present a practical, citizen-developed proposal designed to replace BC’s current forestry framework. The New Forest Act would: – Protect critical watersheds and primary forests Across BC, communities are facing increasing wildfire risk, water concerns, and ongoing uncertainty in the forest sector. This presentation — delivered in Jennifer’s down-to-earth and focused style — lays out a concrete path forward based on ecological limits and long-term stability.

Join Us at the Pride March for Justice!Many Helping Hands Needed Our Pride Committee is looking for volunteers to join us at the Victoria Pride March for Justice on Sunday, July 12th. This year, we need at least 18 volunteers to help carry our banners and our beautiful Pride doors. We will also be handing out Pride bracelets, stickers, and bookmarks to spectators along the route. The more people who join us, the stronger our witness for love, inclusion, justice, and belonging will be. Save the Date: A Taste of Palestine DinnerAugust 8, 6:00 pm, James Bay United Lower Hall Join us for a special evening of Palestinian food, culture, and storytelling with Izzeldin Bukhari, a Palestinian chef from Jerusalem and founder of Sacred Cuisine. Izzeldin cooks and teaches about Palestinian cuisine, with a special focus on vegetarian and vegan dishes rooted in the Sufi tradition. Proceeds from the dinner will be shared equally: 50% will support Palestinian causes, and 50% will help Izzeldin continue his peacemaking work. Our Community Lunch Has a New Schedule
Our Community Lunch has slightly changed its timing. Delicious chef-prepared meals are now served from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, and the Lower Hall remains open until 2:45 pm for conversation, connection, and socializing. Come and enjoy a restaurant-quality lunch prepared by an experienced chef in the company of old and new friends. Everyone is welcome! Donations are appreciated but not required.
