Inviting your prayers. This Sunday we meet again. More ways to be in touch coming soon

James Bay United Church
a note from Karen

Inviting your prayers

Last week Gordon was admitted to hospital (not COVID 19 related).

Although he has undergone a variety of tests, there are still unanswered questions about his health.  When I asked him what support would look like at this time, he said he would like to be in people's prayers; and while he is feeling surrounded by love, phone calls at this point would NOT be helpful.

I'm in regular contact with Sharon, Gordon's wife, and as things unfold I will keep you informed.  In the meantime please join me in holding Gordon and his whole family in prayer.

This Sunday we meet again

Virtual Sunday Services - Sunday, April 19, 2020

The way into our Virtual Sunday Services remains the same as in weeks past. The links can be found at the bottom of this paragraph. If at any time during the service, you experience a temporary delay or glitch, please be patient as things may right themselves, if given a few (it feels like forever) moments. Should problems persist, shut off all your browser windows. (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, FireFox etc.) When you sign back into the service, all should be right with your world.

Our virtual Sanctuary will be open at 9:30 am for you to arrive at your leisure and visit. Welcome and announcements start around 10.

Daniel will be our behind the scenes technician this week in lieu of Gordon.  Until he's had a first round in the driver's seat, let's not count on him as our "help line" this week.  And, of course, dont' call Gordon! even though the instructions suggest he's avaialble.

Know that if you loose track of this note before Sunday, the way into the service is right there on the home page of our website.

More ways to be in touch coming soon

A number of us have been introduced to "zoom" gatherings, an on-line forum that allows us to connect for real-time conversation while even seeing each other. It really does have the effect of gathering in person.  Some might choose a "morning coffee hour" where we catch up with each other.  Some of us might choose a facilitated "reflective conversation" - a stroll for the soul- right at home, where we have an opportunity to respond to the question of the day.  These are just two possibilities among others about to be set up as a way of furthering our connections with each other through this time. If connecting like this would interest you, and if you have other ideas around which a group might gather, please be in touch with me.  kdickey@shaw.ca
