Intergenerational Calls to Action Scavenger HuntIn Search of Truth and Reconciliation - Saturday, November 6, 2021 You haven’t heard about it? It’s an initiative of James Bay United Church. Picture a walk around the James Bay neighbourhood. You’ve been given 10 clues and a map. Each location lands you into a place of cultural significance to the Lekwugen speaking people. Right where you are standing, you’ll find a description of it AND there you will find the box you are searching for that holds one of the Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report. At the end of your search, you’ll return to Irving Park where we being, for refreshments and prizes and an opportunity to sign up with others to take action on one of the 10 Calls to Action. It will be FUN. You’ll LEARN some incredible things. AND you will begin to see James Bay with new eyes. It’s happening on Saturday November 6, beginning at 1pm. Along with participating in the search, please let us know if you could volunteer on the day for an hour. Forest Walk Field TripFrancis/King Regional Park - Friday, October 29, 2021 We’ll gather on FRIDAY Oct 29, next week for what promises to be a fabulous guided walk. Mark Haddock, whose life work as an environmental lawyer has been devoted to the preservation of forests in BC, and Andrew MacKinnon who, as Mark says has written “a new bible” on mushrooms and fungi, will be our guides. Our walk will take us into Francis/King Regional Park. We’ll set off from the parking lot of the Park at 3pm. If you need a ride or can offer a ride, please take a moment to let us know.
