taking a break from seeking contentstream of consciousness It's been a very full couple of weeks for me, what with the successful run of the Duck Variations and other goings on in our Arts Ministry and Social Justice Ministry and I don't seem to have the energy today to seek out fresh content for our ENews. This month's Broadview Magazine is amazing - I read it in the tub while I was thinking about this note to you - perhaps I will share some highlights on Saturday. The Lachlan Craven Quintet was stellar last night with father and son playing together on stage in the sanctuary. Tuesday morning a very talented young classical guitarist recorded in our space and we started a conversation about a Sunday Matinee concert with him some time in June perhaps. Neighbourhood Solidarity with Unhoused Neighbours (NSUN) met in the basement on Tuesday to talk about The Victoria Declaration with the hopes of breathing new life and action into the document - a process stalled by Covid in 2020. I told my wife she should embrace her mistakes ... For more infomation visit:

Moose Hide Campaign Day
The First Nations Engagement Ministry Team of St. John’s United Church (Deep Cove) and Fairfield United Church (Victoria) together are encouraging everyone, everywhere to lift up and participate in this Indigenous-led national initiative. You can do this by wearing a pin, and participating in a variety of activities. Moose Hide Campaign Day is a day of ceremony for an Indigenous-led grassroots movement to inspire men, boys and all Canadians – to stand up to end violence against all women and children. It is a cross-cultural learning opportunity to build understanding of Indigenous cultures and it provides an opportunity to take practical steps for our collective journey of reconciliation. The Moose Hide Campaign was started 11 years ago by Paul Lacerte and his daughter Raven. For more information about the Moose Hide Campaign and to register for the day, click here.
