Sunday WorshipSunday, September 18, 2022 This Sunday, Sinan Demirel (Social Justice) and Kelby MacNayr (Arts Ministry) will be picking up on our theme of Tapping Into Joy, as each of them speaks about the work they are beginning with us. And then following the service, over lunch, there will be an opportunity to further engage with each of them, along with Jennifer Turner (Music) and Christine Chepyha (Communication). A great way for us to come on board together as we make a new beginning this Fall. Rev. Karen Dickey

The Possibility of Age: Discover Aging as a Spiritual PathOnline program with Barbara Richards Are you facing the uncharted post-career years, wondering what’s next? Many of us approaching the third chapter of life feel unsettled, restless, and adrift. We sense the years 55 – 80+ can be some of our best, but we don’t know how to navigate the changes that come with aging. Sage-ing, also called spiritual eldering or conscious aging, offers an inner roadmap that approaches this chapter of life as a time of rich spiritual and personal growth – a time that can bring gifts not available in earlier decades. This live, online gathering happens three Wednesdays: October 19 - November 2, 2022 at 1:30-3:30pm pacific time. The Call and Vision of the United Church of Canada
The United Church of Canada is a community of hope, a vibrant and vital church with both purpose and vision. We live in a time of rapid change in religious life, great inequities between peoples, and collective harm to our earth community. As church, we have been complicit in injustice. And yet we have this hope. We believe we continue to be called to witness in love and justice to the liberating, healing Christ risen in this place and time. Together, we strive towards repentance, repair, and right relations with all peoples and the planet. Our call and vision statement speaks to how we boldly embody the Christian story in this time, filled with the certainty of resurrection and hope for new life. The full Call and Vision can be found here. For more infomation visit:

Thanksgiving Sunday Church Choirfor our October 9th service I would love to put together a choir for Thanksgiving Sunday. Seeing as this is my first time leading a choir at JBU, I would like to keep things fun and simple for this service with the goal of discovering who is interested and what the possibilities might be for the future. As such, we will sing a well-known Thanksgiving hymn and one pre-service selection. We will aim to incorporate harmony where we can. If this appeals to you, please email me. Timeline: 1. Music chosen and ready for pick-up by Sunday Sept. 25 All abilities are welcome! Jennifer Turner |
Introducing...Christine Chepyha, Communications Once upon a time . . . James Bay United has learned a lot about storytelling over the last five years. Under Gordon’s leadership we’ve learned how to share our stories around the neighbourhood and further afield. When the Communications and Neighbourhood Engagement portfolio was created, little was known about the church outside of its doors. Today your neighbours know that something important is happening around our little church, and it isn’t only about Sunday morning. For more infomation visit:
