Sunday Worship. Singing Our Faith. Shhhh - this is the secret stuff

James Bay United Church
James Bay United News for May 19, 2023
Sunday Worship

Sunday Worship

Sunday, May 21st: 10:15AM - In-Person and On-Line

“In our end is our beginning” is one of the paradoxes that challenges our rational minds.  And yet many of us can point to the truth of it in our own lives.  This is some of where our reflection will take us this Sunday as we gather around the story that concludes these 50 days of Easter, with the “departure” of the risen Christ ... where ultimately “gone” leads to a deeper sense of empowerment.

POST-SERVICE ZOOM Coffee Chat (join others online after the service)

Singing Our Faith

Singing Our Faith

at our Sunday, June 11th Service

Get ready for a wonderful celebration of the songs that feed our souls, kindle our courage, unite us across our differences, express our convictions,  our daring hopes and prayers. Sunday, June 11 is the day for the BIG SING.  Not only will we discover and sing these touchstone hymns, but we will hear from those who contribute a piece to the playlist for the day about why these pieces hold a powerful place in their life. (and for those online, we have a system in place to hear your words as well!)

Sound Healing with Sara Marreiros

Sound Healing with Sara Marreiros

starting Friday, June 2: 12noon

Sara Marreiros has been performing music for over 25 years. She’s a versatile singer known for her love of many genres, including the art of vocal improvisation and sound healing. Sara has also collaborated with singers on a number of sound healing projects over the past decade and has recently begun exploring solo work. She finds sound healing extremely gratifying and would like to share this with our community.

Sound Healing is an improvised practice of trusting and tapping into the space, surrounding sounds and and the energy of those attending - then intuitively the music comes.

Starting June 2nd, Sara will be offering these improvised weekly sessions in the sanctuary of James Bay United Church. Each experience will be completely different depending on who comes that day.
