why the Big Train is coming to JBUCALL Aboard !!! As many of you know Daniel Morel has been a friend of James Bay United for many years. We got to know him through our outreach work at Beacon Hill Park. While Daniel has struggled with health issues and stable housing (which many of us as a community have assisted with over the years), his warmth, his tender gentle manner always shines through, and his incredible musicianship speaks for itself. It’s our hope that you will come to tonight's concert - with friend and blues legend Lonnie Glass - and contribute what you can to help them on their way for this Canadian tour. It is so fitting that we are hosting their special first event in our sanctuary. Gordon ps: Check out this impromptu performance on our patio from a couple of years ago ~ let it play to the end, where you hear a passerby comment and get to see Daniel's smile. Big Trainacoustic blues duo - Saturday, March 9, 7pm Help launch Big Train on their first Canadian Tour The acoustic duo Big Train brings together two generations of blues talent performing their original songs in a synergistic mix of soulful stories, earthy tunes, and some of the meanest blues harmonica licks this side of the Mississippi River! Lonnie Glass, a professional musician for six decades, has toured across North America and Europe, and written (or co-written) over 250 songs. Lonnie met Daniel Morel at an open stage in 2023 and took him under his wing. Daniel found his first harmonica as a homeless youth, walking down the railroad tracks near his hometown in Quebec. It took him a couple of years to figure out what to do with it, but figure it out he did and he has emerged as a gifted interpreter of the blues harmonica vernacular. Together, Lonnie and Daniel create a unique and highly original take on the country blues. Proceeds from this event will go toward meeting expenses for their very first tour, which will take them across BC and Alberta this spring and summer. For more infomation visit:
