He has worked with a long list of American jazz greats in a dazzling array of styles — from the Lounge Lizards to Neil Sedaka — and with some of the most compelling and respected musicians in straightahead and avant-garde jazz, including Kenny Werner, Jeff Ballard, and countless others. Celebrating Black History Month: Concert #3February 28 or March 1 (DATE TENTATIVE), 2:00–3:30 pm Our Celebrating Black History Month series continues with the final special matinee — we’re still deciding whether it will be February 28 or March 1 — but it will definitely happen at 2:00 pm. Join virtuoso Cuban pianist Pablo Cardenas for a concert celebrating Black History Month through music of the Americas. Pianist, composer, arranger, and band leader Pablo Cardenas is a highly respected musician specializing in Cuban popular and traditional music, as well as classical and jazz traditions from across the Americas. Joining him are longtime musical collaborators English left-handed electric bassist Peter Douse and drummer Kelby MacNayr, with special guest percussionist Israel “Toto” Barriel from Matanzas, Cuba.
