Chen style Taijiquan is the original form of Taijiquan, developed hundreds of years ago in the Chen family village of northern China. Historically held secret and passed only from father to son within the Chen family, this method was taught more openly beginning in the 20th century, and the form we practice is from the root of the family tree. It emphasizes clear expression of the principals of yin and yang, containing movements that are large and small, fast and slow, soft and hard, and involving both the inner and outer landscapes of the body.

This class is offered at $85/month – drop-in classes are not conducive to progress, but can be accommodated at $20/class you attend.

Wed 10:00-11:00 + Fri 10:35-11:40 (2 times/week)

Yang style Taijiquan is the first child of Chen style, and embodies many of the same principles, but in different ways. Its progenitor, Yang LuChan, was an experienced martial artist who became a student of one of the Chen family branches, and later transmitted his knowledge to his own sons and  beyond the Chen village. This is a rare form from one of Yang’s sons, close to the original source. Speaking very generally, the Yang style form expresses movement in a soft and flowing manner, and contains many benefits for health and longevity.

This class is offered at $70/month – drop-in classes are not conducive to progress, but can be accommodated at $20/class you attend.
