Sunday Jazz Matinee at James Bay United Church presents the Brooke Maxwell / Joey Smith / Damian Graham Trio!
Victoria’s own pianist, vocalist, tenor saxophonist, composer of hit musicals, and educator Brooke Maxwell assembles an all-star trio featuring bassist extraordinaire Joey Smith and the one-and-only Damian Graham on drums!
Drawing inspiration from the deep roots of swing and blues, the energy of early rock’n’roll, the rhythms of traditional Cuban music, and a healthy dose of humour, Brooke Maxwell is an accomplished and much-loved musician, admired by peers and audiences alike.
A deeply swinging performer whose sound echoes the greats — from Nat King Cole, Little Richard, James P. Johnson, and Ahmad Jamal — Brooke brings a Harry Connick Jr.-esque alchemy to the bandstand.
Joining him are his longtime musical friends and collaborators: the renowned bassist Joey Smith and the incredible drummer Damian Graham.
