As our lives continue to ebb and flow, we all seek safety and comfort from one another. This can make this time of social distancing particularly sorrowful and stressful. I encourage us to neither dwell in the past nor let our thoughts run to any imagined future.
We are here ... breathing and caring for each other, for the world and for ourselves right now.
Thank you Suzanne Lawrence, for offering these brief video encounters inviting us to live deeply and truthfully.

August 8th, 2020: Accepting our Naivete
We are all naive, at least sometimes. We can lack experience, wisdom and judgement in uncertain times. This is to be expected. We can't know what we don't know. We just can't! It's no fault of ours or of lifes in any way. Sometimes however, the stress can launch our "survivors" into the fray. They are ill-equipped, innocent and usually terrified. Our choices then become eclipsed by reactions informed by fear. We freeze, we flee, we faun and we fight. We all do this to ourselves and each other. We disconnect from life. We do however, have the moral courage and endurance to meet our naivete; to forgive it in ourselves and one another and to trust our ever-present capacity for freedom and joy!
July 11th, 2020: When to Stop Searching and Start Looking
Meaning is an illusive teacher. And, more often than not, we don't like what it is showing us. As we journey on the Hero's path, "meaning" in its wisdom, will show us life experiences we would rather forget. We would rather continue to exile those aspects of ourselves that have been hurt by others or have hurt others. Our Soul however, has another idea for us. It invites us to look deeper with its compassionate heart and find our birthright of redemptive love and ultimately Forgiveness.
June 27th, 2020: Finding Meaning in Between Worlds
We now find ourselves in another new landscape. Some of us are searching for a new port, some of us are trying to decide what to leave and what to take. But if our ultimate goal is personal happiness or success, then our searching and our suffering will never end. Instead we are being called to listen to the summons of our own Soul. It is 'meaning' that fulfills us, quickens our heart and brings aliveness to our awakened being.
June 13th, 2020: Anxiety, let's call it as it is!
Anxiety is a fluctuating state that can often overwhelm us. We often try to avoid it, manage it, resist it and sometimes, we are carried away by it. Anxiety is suffering! Because anxiety is fear of some future collapse, we are pulled away from ourselves and away from the present moment. Our bodies constrict, tighten and try to escape being here. We can be trapped by an illusory and fearful future as we try to escape an overwhelming and wounded past. This conflict "seemingly" takes us away from the peace and harmony of the present moment. Yet, this moment, this encounter with the Sacred, is eternally available to us. We have only to find our heroic courage to stop..... and have a look.
June 6th, 2020: The Gift of Failure
Failure is one of the most intelligent and effective gifts that can come our way. As we make our way on the hero's path, we are bound to be met (and often clobbered) by obstacles, fears and limitations. Sometimes, our greatest failures leave us speechless, undone and intensely vulnerable. There is wondrous wisdom at the heart of failure. As we try, try and try again to declare ourselves as someone or something special in the world, failure comes to wake us up. A sentinel of the soul, failure is there to invite us into remembering who we truly are. Our natural innocence and redemptive love find their way through the brokenness and we become better and better at failing.... at loving... at being Heroes.
May 22nd, 2020: Did You Ever Know You Were Your Hero?
The human Heart, our Heart, is large enough to hold whatever has threatened to destroy us. Over lifetimes and generations we have proven ourselves to be highly adaptive survivors. Much to our dismay however, all these exquisite strategies have not brought us to the promised land. We lament and grieve our somewhat un-lived life. As we are now in a collective "wilderness experience", we are asked to return to the Heart. Together, with courage and earnestness we access the wellspring of resilience. With deep listening we follow as we are guided out of the desert and on to the hero's path..... stepping into the fullness of our lives.
May 15th, 2020: Cultivating Courage
Cultivating courage in a time when that seems the last thing we’re inclined to be about.
