Dear friends,

James Bay United Church truly is all about “opening doors to God’s love”.  And what an array of doors we have been led to open and nurture and sustain!

Just to highlight a few of the MANY “open doors” that continue to enrich people’s lives:

  • Live-streaming our Sunday morning worship to reach people both near and far
  • Our commitment to top-quality Communications through our dynamic webpage &  weekly e-newsletters as well as vital postings on Instagram, Facebook & YouTube
  • Our Social Justice endeavours reaching people through such gatherings as our Thursday Community lunches and providing a venue for the “African Heritage Association of Vancouver Island Youth Council”
  • The Thrift Shop thriving in so many ways through the commitment of so many volunteers
  • Our Arts Ministry blossoming in all sorts of directions to build heart and soul through such gathering as “Tuesday Night Jazz at the Church”, Tai Chi, Community Guitar Class, Swing Dance and Tea, not to mention monthly Saturday afternoon artist gatherings and the Wednesday evening James Bay Community Chorus rehearsals.
  • Initiatives around Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and the Land
  • Healing Pathways training
  • The on-going maintenance and refurbishment of our well-used church building (there is always something “on the go” in this sacred space!)

We celebrate all who share in any and all of these important ministries … both leaders and participants.

Each October we celebrate Thanksgiving. We invite you as part of this season to offer a special donation to help keep the doors open and the rich array of programs going. This year we are asking that you donate to the General Funds of the Church. The costs of many things are rising but we continue to offer much to the community, and we receive nourishment for our spirits from James Bay United Church.  We want to continue to be able to share God’s overflowing love. Your gifts by cheque (made out to “James Bay United Church”) or online through the Canada Helps' secure portal.

(Please note your contribution as a "Thanksgiving gift”).

We thank you for your trust in our leadership, and for your valuable participation in the life of James Bay United Church.
