Thank you for your continued support of this ministry. The family remains in Islamabad, awaiting the next steps in their journey to permanent residence in Canada. While the weather has cooled slightly since June, it remains humid, and recent flooding in the area has added to daily challenges.

The Government of Pakistan has ceased renewing visas for Afghan refugees, increasing their vulnerability. In response, the Government of Canada — along with the Canadian High Commission in Islamabad — is working with UNHCR and other partners to advocate for their protection and to oppose forced repatriations under the “Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan.” Canada remains committed to resettling eligible Afghan refugees through programs like Private Sponsorship and Government-Assisted Refugees.

Refugees can use any official IRCC communication to demonstrate their application status. If facing detention or deportation, they or a family member have been asked to contact the Canadian High Commission immediately.

Please continue to reach out to our MP Will Greaves (Victoria). The family and we cannot thank you enough for your vital financial and prayerful support during this uncertain time. It truly makes a difference.

With gratitude,
