On Sunday, September 17th, W̱SÁNEĆ Elder ZȺWIZUT Carl Olsen, along with his daughter Joni Olsen joined us for the Sunday service to speak about the need for habitat preservation at SELE₭TEL Goldstream River and Goldstream Park. The Ministry of Transportation is proposing a highway expansion that will greatly threaten the river, the salmon and the fishing rights of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. Denise Nadeau, member of the James Bay United group 'Reconciling with Indigenous Peoples and the Land' and Rev. Hilde Seal assisted with introductions and questions from the audience.
