Brent Jarvis Trio: BebopMarch 24, 7:00–8:30 pm The brilliant, introspective pianist (composer, recording engineer, photographer, microphone builder, and mathematician) Brent Jarvis is something of a musical enigma. Brent possesses a deep love of the romantic classical composers, the lyrical touch and aesthetic of jazz innovator Bill Evans, a love of bebop, forward-leaning contemporary jazz, and Cuban music — to name a few! In this special concert, the Brent Jarvis Trio brings together renowned virtuoso bassist Scott White and acclaimed multi-instrumentalist John Lee to explore the classic sounds of bebop. Bebop distilled the swing and swagger of earlier jazz into a hard-swinging, intellectually rigorous music that echoed the spirit of the time. The trio will celebrate the music of early innovators Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, and James Moody, as well as later practitioners such as pianists Ahmad Jamal and Mulgrew Miller. Join us for a special, swinging concert featuring three of the brightest lights in West Coast jazz! Admission by donation ($20 suggested, but all are welcome) For more infomation visit: http://jamesbayunited.com/events/tuesday-night-jazz-at-the-church-presents/2026-03-24
