Sunday Worship: Third Sunday of EasterApril 19, 10:30–11:30 am On the day of the resurrection, Jesus (after having died and risen) joins his friends as they’re traveling to Emmaus, surely feeling a mix of grief and bewilderment. But they don’t recognize him. They walk together, chatting the whole way, but it’s not until he offers the meal-time ritual that “their eyes are opened” and they realize what’s happening. And, just as quickly as they see him for who he is, he vanishes. Or so goes the story Luke tells this week. It’s a very intriguing, mystical story. It’s very embodied, until it’s not. The embodied presence of God has a way of opening our eyes to the abundance that is all around us. Goodness abounds and it is our task to see it — a task that God’s grace makes easy. Please note that the Sunday Service begins at 10:30. You are warmly invited to gather from 10:15 for a time of musical reflection. For more infomation visit:

Easter Collage Artby Gary Brandstadt Our Worship Team couldn’t help but share the incredible Easter season artwork by our own Gary Brandstadt (who has many more talents in addition to organizing fantastic Dinner + Movie nights!). Here’s how Gary himself describes the concept of his masterpiece: “The three basic fabrics were green, white and blue, to represent the basic elements of the earth we need to survive — air, water, green growth. On the left side are the prismatic colours, which represent all the colour & vividness of life for us. As you know, the 7 prism colours merge to become white light (purity). Flowing through that, from the upper right, is a great white/gold (for wealth) splash of the spiritual life. It comes to us, and surrounds us with the triumph of the resurrection. There is a blue line running top-to-bottom right in the centre to represent a clarity of mental thought and practice. And right beside it is a vivid red ribbon which represents Christ’s suffering, passion, compassion — and our joyful response.” |
