This week we continue with our lay-led Summer EnLightenment series drawing upon Barbara Brown Taylor’s book “Holy Envy — Finding God in the Faith of Others”. As Barbara explores Hinduism — and in particular the Hindu deity Shiva — she invites us to question along with her how often we “assume that we know what we are seeing when we see other people practicing their faith”. If we allow ourselves to be open and curious, how might some dimensions of the Hindu tradition resonate with and even illuminate something of our own Christian tradition? Join us for this time of wondering and worship.

Question to consider: When have you felt the boundaries of your faith shift in encountering another tradition?

Our worship each Sunday is intended to be a collective experience, a communal practice. We might step into whatever is our sanctuary, each one of us as individuals, and yet as we assemble, from wherever we are, we become a people, drawn together through song and prayer, through word and ritual, and through the Spirit who breathes through it all, through us all. One and the same Spirit uniting us breathing us into life!
