Accessible music venues that you can walk to right in the neighbourhood encourage good mental and spiritual health. With the help of local jazz legend Kelby MacNayr, James Bay United Church is bringing some of the best of the best in the Victoria jazz scene to the heart of James Bay ~ A venue without distractions ~ where the focus is you, the music and the sacred space to listen.

Join this special neighbourhood weekly gathering offered by James Bay United Church and the Victoria Jazz Community.

  • A suggested donation of $10 (as you are able) will be taken at the door.

September 17th - Special guest Sara Marreiros

The stunning and gorgeously romantic music of Brazil with the soulful and captivating vocalist par excellence, Sara Marreiros in an exciting collaboration with Cuban pianist Pablo Cardenas, renowned bassist Peter Dowse and powerhouse drummer Kelby MacNayr.

September 24th - Ashley Wey Trio feat. Jose Loria

Pianist Ashley Way has traveled the world performing with her trio as a featured artist on some of the world's top Cruise Ships, studying with some of the the top Latin and jazz pianists in Victoria and Toronto and now returned to her town of Victoria and her roots of playing, singing and lighting up the band-stand. Bringing together her acclaimed bassist Louis Rudner and special guest drummer - Mexico's renowned Jose Loria - this trio will swing and sparkle!

Celebrating the Jazz Piano Giants - Ashley Wey pays homage to her influences and some of the greatest pianist in jazz history from Oscar Peterson to Bill Evans and Duke Ellington.
