A VERY RARE CHANCE: The Phil Dwyer Trio

A VERY RARE CHANCE: The Phil Dwyer Trio

Tuesday, October 28, 7:00–8:30 pm

Tuesday Night Jazz at the Church proudly presents The Phil Dwyer Trio featuring bassist Ben Dwyer & drummer Alan Jones.

Join us for a very special night of world-class jazz, as three extraordinary musicians come together – for one night only!

An Order of Canada recipient and multiple JUNO Award–winning saxophonist, pianist, composer, and arranger, Phil Dwyer is not only a national treasure but a homegrown musical phenomenon. Coupling his technical and musical brilliance with boundless creative passion, he has built a remarkable career performing and recording with leading musicians from Canada, the U.S., and around the world.

Bassist Ben Dwyer made his name on Montréal’s straight-ahead and new-music jazz scene, performing with some of the finest musicians of his generation as well as elder masters across the country.

Master drummer Alan Jones spent his formative years between Salt Spring Island and Portland, Oregon, developing a truly West Coast and wholly original voice as both composer and drummer. Drawing inspiration from mentors such as the great Elvin Jones and his studies under the legendary Alan Dawson at Berklee College of Music, Alan forged a singular style – rooted in jazz tradition yet infused with philosophical and musical depth.

Admission: by donation ($20 suggested donation, but all are welcome regardless of funds!)
