Tuesday Night Jazz & More from the JBUC Arts Ministry
Lloyd Arntzen & Friends

Lloyd Arntzen & Friends

March 3, 7:00–8:30 pm, Sanctuary

Clarinettist, composer, and vocalist Lloyd Arntzen has been bringing the sound of traditional jazz to audiences across Canada’s West Coast for over 60 years! With a storied career as a performer, composer, and sideman, Lloyd even welcomed Louis Armstrong to Vancouver in 1961. He has long been a favourite of traditional jazz fans and Lindy Hoppers alike around the world.

In this special presentation, Lloyd brings together his long-standing musical friends — collaborators of over 40 years.

Featuring Victoria’s legendary “Godfather of Jazz”, piano sensation Tommy Vickery; acclaimed clarinettist and saxophonist Al Pease; young stalwart bassist Ryan Tandy; and veteran drummer Dave Emery.

Special Community Chi Gong Class

Special Community Chi Gong Class

March 8, 5:00–7:00 pm, Lower Hall

Did you know many musicians practice Tai Chi to stay relaxed, focused, and performance-ready? This week, our Arts Ministry celebrates both the joyful improvisation of Tuesday Night Jazz and the mindful flow of Chi Gong — two beautiful expressions of living art.

Join us as we continue our celebration of the Chinese New Year and welcome in the Year of the Fire Horse with one more installment of our Community Chi Gong class series with Tai Chi master Eric Tuttle.

In this class, we will explore the Eight Pieces of Brocade, as well as the Six Healing Sounds, Big Regulation of Breathing, and Muscle Tendon Changing Sutras.

Admission is free, and everyone is welcome!

No experience necessary. Wear comfortable clothing, and consider bringing a notebook and pencil.
