Sunday Jazz Matinee at James Bay United Church presents the Lloyd Arntzen Quartet featuring Tommy Vickery!

Featuring legendary clarinetist Lloyd Arntzen; pianist Tommy Vickery, often called the "grandfather of jazz in Victoria"; one of our elder statesmen, bassist Joey Smith; and renowned drummer Matt Pease.

Lloyd Arntzen hails from small-town Saskatchewan but speaks the language of New Orleans through the music of Sidney Bechet and Jimmy Dodds. At the age of 98, Lloyd has been playing traditional jazz for more than 70 years — performing professionally, leading bands, and collaborating with some of the finest artists in Canada and around the world.

Lloyd also had the distinct honour of welcoming the great Louis Armstrong to Vancouver in the 1960s and has been a favourite of traditional jazz fans across the West Coast for decades.

Join us for this special Father's Day celebration featuring an all-star traditional jazz quartet!

Admission by donation ($20 suggested, but all are welcome).
