WIELAND, Clara Hilda Lisette Born August 13, 1914, died January 18, 2017, aged 102. Raised and educated in Fort George (now Prince George), Clara's longest job was working for the BC Forest service from 1938 to 1971 (some say she ran it!) and she was very active with the local church, the Girl Guides and Rebekah Lodge. Clara moved to Victoria in 1975 after her parents died, and continued with her church and Rebekah Lodge involvements. Clara kept her extended family connected, so relatives in BC, England, Scotland, Germany and Australia all know each other and have visited Clara and enjoyed visits from Clara - yes, Clara travelled! Clara loved to entertain friends and family; enjoyed knitting, crocheting and many other crafts; played piano, organ and violin; even played cards! Clara did not marry. She is missed by dozens of family members and countless friends world-wide. Heartfelt thanks to Parry Place staff and residents, medical and church personnel and all Clara's friends and family who loved and helped her over the years. Clara loved everybody and made sure they knew they were loved. Thank you, Clara. Adieu. There will be a service at James Bay United Church on Sunday, February 12, 2017 (please be in your pew by 10:15am, service starts 10:30am), followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:30am in the basement of the church, accessed from the rear of the church. Please bring your memories of Clara - there will be an opportunity for sharing at the Celebration.
