This is the second year the City of Victoria is inviting Victoria home and business owners to consider a making a voluntary contribution to the Reconciliation Contribution Fund, used by the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations to achieve the objectives they have set out for themselves. It is about recognizing that the City is built on the homelands of these Nations and those of us who own real estate here or do business here (as in the case of our Thrift Shop), undertake our ministries and enjoy all that comes with living here, we benefit and generate wealth from the lands of the Songhees and Esquimalt nations that were displaced and removed through the process of colonization.
We will be celebrating National Indigenous Day of Prayer on Sunday June 18th. As we did last year, we will gather up our contributions as part of our service on June 18th when we celebrate National Indigenous Day of Prayer.
