The James Bay United Church Board is the governing body entrusted with the spiritual and administrative leadership of our congregation. Guided by faith, compassion and a commitment to service, the Board works collaboratively with our minister, staff and congregation to nurture our shared ministry and mission in the community.

What Does the Board Do?

  • Discerns and sets priorities to guide the church's direction and ministries
  • Supports and evaluates the work of the minister and other leaders
  • Stewards resources—financial, physical and human—with care and accountability
  • Engages in strategic planning to respond faithfully to the evolving needs of the congregation and neighbourhood
  • Fosters community relationships and upholds our commitment to justice, inclusion, and outreach

Through prayerful listening, collaborative decision-making and open communication, the Board seeks to be a faithful presence and wise steward of the church’s life and work.

Board Minutes and Summaries along with our Transparency and Cofidentiality Policy

To keep our congregation informed and engaged, the Board prepares two forms of written records:

Board Minutes – These are the formal records of each meeting, detailing discussions, decisions and actions.

Board Summaries – These offer a brief, accessible overview of key decisions and highlights from each meeting. Summaries are posted online to help keep the whole church community informed about the direction and activities of the Board.
